Since 1949, the LPGA hosted numerous tournaments. Among them, the Women’s PGA Championship is, the Women’s British Open, the Women’s Australian Open, and the Women’s PGA Championship are all held at the LPGA. The Women's PGA Championship, which is currently the second-oldest major, is still in play.

Carlton Woods hosts lpga's new major

The Chevron championship is the LPGA’s new major tournament. The tournament will be hosted by The Club at Carlton Woods Jack Nicklaus Signature Course. It's part of a five-year agreement which will also see the tournament televised live on NBC Sports.

The course was open for play since 2001. It is famous for its undulating greens that are protected by bunkers. It hosted the U.S. Amateur in 2014. Will Zalatoris won the Junior Amateur. In addition, it has also hosted the qualifying rounds for the U.S. Open and LPGA Tour events. It hosted the Mission Hills final edition of LPGA Tour's Mission Hills tournament, Rancho Miro (California), where Jennifer Kupcho made a final jump into Poppie's Pond to win.

Carlton Woods' junior golf program is strong

Carlton Woods' strong junior golf program is a hallmark of the course. The HP Boys Championship at the course has hosted Tiger Woods, David Duval, and Rickie Fowler in the past. This invitation-only tournament also raises money to support junior golfers. In the past three years, the HP Boys Championship has donated over $44,000 to local schools, charities, and an AJGA ACE Grant. The AJGA presented awards last year to recognize the event's best media coverage, charitable giving, and outstanding media reporting.

Carlton Woods is a top-tier golf resort and the host of the 2014 U.S. Junior Amateur. This championship will be held at Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Club. The course is known for its deep bunkering, frontal waters hazards, and contoured fairways. It is also a Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. Every year it has been recertified since 2003. The club's junior golf program has been a popular attraction for aspiring junior golfers and amateurs.

Louise Suggs founded the LPGA

Louise Suggs created the LPGA, which is a tour for women who compete in major golf championships. Suggs and her two partners helped establish the organization, establishing rules and organizing tournaments. They were also involved in the promotion of teaching clinics.


Suggs took part in a 72 hole exhibition tournament in West Palm Beach Florida in the early 1960s. In this tournament, Suggs competed against fellow LPGA and PGA professionals.

Women's PGA Championship ranks second among five lpga mains

The Women’s PGA Championship consists of the top female players around the globe. The tournament dates back 55 years and is the 2nd-oldest of the 5 majors. The Ladies European Tour doesn't recognize this tournament as a major and it is open for players from around the globe.

The Women's PGA Championship (one of five LPGA majors) is often played at courses that hosted men's majors. Since 1955, the event has not been missed, with 11 of its years played at Wilmington’s DuPont Club. McDonald's was the official title sponsor in 1994.

Gary Player: Gary Player is a four time major champion. At 26 years old, Gary Player won the Open Championship. He was able to complete the grand-slam with nine major championships. In addition to his major championships, Player won four consecutive PGA Championships, including the U.S. Open in 1965. He finished in the top five at both the Masters and U.S Open and won the Masters in 1980.
